15 of 15 free course spots remaining

In 30 minutes, you'll know
exactly what's been
getting in your way.

I'm building a course for high-income Australians who earn well but haven't yet built a financial system that actually works. Before I write a single lesson, I'm talking to people in this situation — because I want to solve the real problem, not the one I assume you have.

The first 15 people to do an interview get a free place in the course when it launches.

No pitch. No financial advice. No obligation.

What you'll actually walk away with.

This isn't a discovery call. You'll leave with something tangible.

01

A named diagnosis

I'll pinpoint the specific thing blocking you — not a vague 'mindset' answer. Usually it's one of three patterns, and once you see it, you can't unsee it.

02

Your single next move

You'll leave knowing the one concrete action that makes sense for your situation right now. One thing.

03

Clarity on the options you've been weighing

Super vs offset vs shares vs property — you'll get an honest, judgment-free take on what actually fits your income level and timeline.

04

Why previous attempts haven't stuck

Most people have tried something. I'll figure out exactly why it didn't work — so the next attempt is different by design.

This might sound familiar.

These aren't hypotheticals. They're things real people have told me.

  • "I earn good money but I just have nothing to show for it."

The salary is great, the savings rate isn't.

  • "I don't have a goal, so I don't know when enough's enough."

Or the goal keeps moving as your circumstances change, never providing a sense of security.

  • "There are too many options. I just freeze."

ETFs, offset accounts, super, shares. You've Googled all of it. You've started nothing.

  • "I don't want to be 60 and still trading hours for dollars."

That fear is specific. It's also more common than people admit out loud.

  • "I should know better by now."

You're smart and capable. That makes the gap feel worse, not better.

Robin Monro

Here's what this call is — and isn't.

My name is Robin Monro. I'm a software engineer from Canberra who once scraped together $8 in coins just to put fuel in the car and make it to work until payday. I was 18, too proud to ask my parents for help, and absolutely terrible with money.

What followed was years of ADHD hyperfocus on personal finance reading books, blogs, tax tables, YouTube rabbit holes, and even a day of work experience with a financial adviser just because I was that interested. I learned a lot. And I still felt anxious about money. That gap between knowing and actually feeling confident — that's the thing I couldn't find a solution to anywhere.

Eventually the systems I built clicked into place, and the anxiety went with them. Now I'm comfortable enough to completely change career, going back to university to become a teacher — and Tall Poppy is how I'm combining the two things I care about most. Teaching others, and personal finance. Helping people who've been where I've been feel genuinely confident about where they're headed.

This call is research, not advice. I ask questions. You talk. I take notes. Most people leave with more clarity than they came in with — not because I told them what to do, but because articulating it out loud sharpens it. That happens almost every time. What's more, is I'm taking what you need and building out a course and tools that you can use - see the Spending Benchmark tool I built based on what I learned from these conversations. This is the only thing I'm asking for right now, and I'm genuinely grateful for your time.

And if you're one of the first 15 to do an interview, you'll get a free place in the course I'm building because you helped me build it.

What we'll cover:

  • 01Where you are financially — honestly, without judgment
  • 02What's actually getting in the way (usually not what you'd expect)
  • 03What you've already tried and why it hasn't stuck
  • 04What your financial life would look like if it actually worked

This conversation is general in nature and is not financial advice. For personal recommendations, I'll always point you to ASIC's MoneySmart or a licensed financial adviser.

Common questions

The things people wonder before they book.

Is this a sales call?

No. There's nothing to buy yet. I'm building a course and I need to understand the problem before I write a single lesson. The only thing I'm selling right now is the idea that 30 minutes of honest conversation might be worth your time. I've built tools and calculators using my experience as a developer based on what people have told me in these conversations, and that's how I'm saying thank you for your time, building something you can actually use while I build the course.

Will you give me financial advice?

No, and I'll be upfront about that at the start. I'm not a licensed financial adviser. This is a research conversation — I ask questions, you talk, I take notes. You might leave with more clarity, but I legally can't give you personalised advice. What I can do is help you figure out where you are and what's getting in the way of you building a financial system that actually works for you. And I can point you to resources that will help you take the next step once you have that clarity.

What do you actually do with what I tell you?

I use it to understand what problems are most common and most painful, so I can build something genuinely useful. I won't share your details with anyone, this is purely because I want to figure out what people really need.

What if I don't end up being a good fit for this future course?

That's fine — I want to talk to people across different situations. Even if you're further along financially than the target audience, the conversation will still be useful for me, and you will still find it deeply clarifying.
